How did they meet:

We met on Halloween, in 2009. Both of us were attending York University. One in economics and a Varsity Athlete and the other in Graphic Design. Our paths didn’t cross most of the year, but little did we know, it was only a matter of time before we would meet.

Dim’s roommate was actually one of Alanda friend’s from back home. She’d even been to their dorm room to help him decorate but Dim hadn’t moved in yet. On Halloween Alanda and her roommates were throwing a party and some of Dim’s friends were invited. Dim ended up joining them and spoiler alert, most of them became part of our wedding party. Through the chaos of the evening, we all ended up in the kitchen at the end of the night, with Dim helping clean up and waiting on his friends to head out.

We connected on Facebook the next day and within two weeks his persistence paid off. He spontaneously picked Alanda up on her way home from the gym one afternoon and took her to lunch. The rest is history!

Engagement story:

Dim got in the door around 10pm and the first thing he said was “Hi, sorry, I forgot to send my closing notes – give me 5 minutes.” He gave me a quick kiss, took my lap top and went into our room to do some work. I didn’t think anything of it.

A few minutes later he said, “Hey, can you come here?” to which I responded, hold on their about to do the reveal… of course referring to Fixer Upper on HGTV. He they said “No, I need you for a sec,” worried something was wrong, I jumped up and walked into our bedroom to find Dim on one knee, with a grin from ear to ear and my computer recording the whole thing. Shocked does not even explain it. I couldn’t believe my eyes, the ring was beautiful, the moment was perfect.
